I think there is a distinction between theoretical studies and practical studies… a theoretical study would be one based mostly on facts and data while a practical study tends to involve “know how” or ‘how to’ do something and/or the ‘why’ of something.
This particular study seems to be a practical study in the sense it explores the ‘why’ we mask and states the logical rationale and reasoning behind why many of us mask.
