SUMMARY - There has been an official update from the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) concerning the Great Texas Measles Outbreak of 2025. There are 597 cases of measles in Texas, with Gaines county remaining in 1st place (371), followed by Terry county in 2nd (52). Lubbock remains in 3rd at (42) with Dawson (24) and Yoakum (19) residing in 4th place & 5th place, respectively. El Paso has crept up and is currently in 6th place at 18. Could they pass Yoakum soon? The next official update will be Tuesday (April 22, 2025).

The Hawaii Department of Health today confirmed a second case of measles in an adult household member of the first case, which was in a child under the age of 5.

Tennessee now reports that they are up to 6 cases of Measles after confirming 2 more cases end of last week.

About a week and a half ago, the Philadelphia department of public health was warning about Measles exposures at 2 locations. 1 of them was not far from where I live.

It is worth noting that I documented and have archived the Measles outbreak in my metro area from 2023 to 2024. We will see if this new round of exposures/cases becomes an outbreak in the Philadelphia area.

As of Friday, April 18th there were 800 reported Measles cases in the US for the year 2025. The next update from the CDC will be this upcoming Friday, April 25th I suspect we will see another significant increase in cases.

Here are the states the CDC list as having cases so far this year.

As of April 17, 2025, a total of 800 confirmed* measles cases were reported by 25 jurisdictions: Alaska, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York City, New York State, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee, Texas, Vermont, and Washington.

There are 624 cases of measles in Texas, with Gaines county remaining in 1st place (386), followed by Terry county in 2nd (54). Lubbock remains in 3rd at (47) with Dawson at 23(?) in 4th. El Paso is now in 5th place with (20) and Yoakum (19) slips into 6th place. Can Yoakum retake 5th place? The next official update will be Friday (April 25, 2025).

There have not been many vaccinated cases in the US, but a few have been occurring this year. This is something to keep an eye on.

Colorado confirms its 5th measles case, this time a vaccinated adult in Denver County.
