USA/Kentucky - 2024 Pertussis Outbreak

SUMMARY - Kentucky officials have confirmed 7 new cases of pertussis (otherwise known as "whooping cough") in Fayette county, bringing the total number of such cases to 21 since late April of 2024.

NOTE - The topic title has been changed to reflect the changing nature of this thread. It was originally titled "USA/Kentucky - 7 new cases brings total up to 21 since late April 2024."

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department reports that a whooping cough outbreak remains in the county, with 32 confirmed cases.

SUMMARY - The city of Lexington (state: Kentucky, country: United State of America) has confirmed more cases of pertussis (also known as "whooping cough"), raising the total to 27 confirmed cases since April 26, 2024. There were only 16 total cases for the previous five years combined.
