SUMMARY - The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared that there is a rabies outbreak in the nation of Timor-Leste (also known as "East Timor"). There has been 1 death and 29 known cases so far this year. There were only 30 cases in the country for all of the prior year of 2023. None of the current cases are human-to-human transmission and are believed to be dog-to-human.
