SUMMARY - Two citizens from the country of India (in the state of Kerala) have died recently of the Nipah virus. The Nipah virus was first identified in 1999 in Malaysia. The virus is not known to be airborne but recent evidence suggests that it may have obtained human-to-human transmission. The virus currently has a 75% fatality rate.
