This could technically go in either sports illness tracking thread but given I found the game was held in Canada I thought I would post it in the international thread.

ESPN Announcer Sean McDonough Missing Time With Illness.

"According to Awful Announcing, an ESPN spokesperson said McDonaugh has the flu and is skipping Thursday's game to fully recover his voice in time for Saturday."

So typical, his voice should be the least of his concerns. If his voice didn't falter is he indicating he would work sick!? This attitude is why healthcare is bursting to the seams and why schools all over are closing... people go out even though they are sick and compete therefore spreading the flu and other illnesses. Take responsibility and Take off time because you are sick if you care about others not because you can't function. Not to single anybody out but collectively there need to be efforts in teaching people it's rude to make one another sick. We need to make it the popular thing for people to stay home anytime they think they might be coming down with something. If we only knew the havoc and hell we create for society around us when we inadvertently make one another sick by trying to work sick anyway.

People start worrying about who you infect. Its not about you... its about not getting your coworkers,  schoolmates, family, and loved ones sick. Concentrate on stopping the cycle, circumventing the curse and the snuff out your own spread of contagious illnesses and diseases.. besides loving your work. Don't endanger other people with contagious diseases is the name of the real game in the good life.

The moral and upright person would say right away when they first begin to feel bad: "I'm not feeling too good and given all that has happened since covid I'm not going to take any chances..I'm not going to push my luck or other's luck ...I'm not going to risk infecting another. I might be able to work sick but instead, to be on the safe side, I'm going to cancel and stay home and maybe make my loved ones mask around me so they don't get sick too as I don't wish this on anybody".. anyway to me that's how a person raised properly would behave as a caring adult and member of society.

The real reasons for staying home sick is to not hurt others.

..its just so ridiculous they don't do sports in safety masks...
Just now, today, I just got back from a bicycle adventure in my mask. I rode 7 miles straight today on my old 10 speed from the 1980's beating cars that were stuck traffic jams, riding up long steep Appalachian  hills past a college campus and then straight down and up the main street of my little Appalachian town for 7 miles straight in my respirator style mask that has cartridges that filter out airborne diseases with my bandannas tied around my mask as well. I'd see other people on bikes or jogging maskless and I left them in the dust... The mask doesnt hinder my athleticism and I listened to music in my earbuds the whole trip.

When I got home I left my mask on briefly walked my dog in back yard then retrieved a big dirty cardboard box from out front and stuck in my garage which is my quarantined area for shipments all in my mask...

...all I'm saying is I'm 54 years old and rode passed the whole town 7 miles straight in my mask while older people without masks were helping each other walk in the parking lot outside healthcare facilities...  If I can wear a mask racing past the traffic jam shooting and darting down the alleys and shortcuts surely these young athletes can wear a mask... they got there whole future ahead of them and some of these viruses will affect them the rest of their lives. I  ride a bicycle through town and back in the hilly mountain town in a mask and the future is mine!

For what it is worth to others I actually found that wearing my mask during extreme conditions such as when exerting oneself or doing sports like activity or manual labor makes it a lot easier to wear the mask during less strenuous times. Its as if wearing the mask while being athletic got me used to the mask and taught me how to breathe through it and even helped me psychologically get used to the mask as well.

In the meanwhile Any athletes interested in wearing a safety mask might as well go here for inspirational Masked bicycle ride videos
LINK:
https://www.datareport.info/miscellaneous-discussions/masked-man's-bicycle-ride-today-set-to-music-to-inspire-others-to-mask-up/

I would love to see other athletes wearing safety masks.. if things continue the way they are only the masked will survive  or only the masked will be healthy anyway according to what I observe. Maskless people aren't merely taking chances they are actually the reason for much of the transmission of viruses which is true of anyone willing to breathe in an airborne disease... they aren't merely risking a diseases the maskless have in actuality set themselves up to be the perfect vectors and carriers of viruses(in layperson's terms: boy! are the maskless asking for it! Not trying to be disrespectful but to me being maskless today would be like being a sitting duck or a willing guinea pig...that's the way I feel after having worn this safety mask for five years straight I feel smart and I'm virus free and healthy enough and still able to be athletic which is the focus of this thread.
... some people like sports competitors or fellow athletes may not like this masking idea but I argue that microscopic entities are at play and us humans should be wary and choose what we breathe in because of conditions that are simply unfavorable to human health and beyond our control. These ideas of mine are nothing personal.. its just my personal viewpoints that I think are somewhat backed up by scientific data and a certain kind of math and logic as well that I use to arrive at my personal beliefs. So anyway these are some of the reasons I invest in time and have developed the skill and practice of extensive mask use. I love my safety mask and it is a great skill to have and empowers me in many ways.

I hope my reply helps some athlete or sports competitor to protect their health with a mask and I hope my reply helps save a life or two and gives me some masked friends out there to admire!

Later,
The Masked Man
