Anthrax - Laos/Thailand - 2024 Outbreak

SUMMARY - In the country of Laos, 3 cases of anthrax was reported in the province of Champasak. As a response, the Department of Livestock Development in Thailand has issued a warning to refrain from eating raw meat. Soil and grass, which is consumed by livestock, may become contaminated with the bacterium that causes anthrax.

NOTE - The original subject title for this thread, "Anthrax - Laos - 3 cases near Laos/Thailand border prompts Thai response," has been changed to reflect the current state of the outbreak of Anthrax on the Laos/Thailand border.

SUMMARY - It is reported that the number of Anthrax cases in the country of Laos has risen to 54. Thailand has ordered that the movement of livestock across its border with Laos to be strictly controlled. Thailand is preparing vaccines in the event that the disease crosses over into its territory.
