Cholera - Nigeria - 2024 outbreak

SUMMARY - In the country of Nigeria, a cholera outbreak that has claimed the lives of at least 21 people in the state of Lagos State and elsewhere has been traced to a source. Government officials claim that the source of the cholera outbreak was the consumption of an unregistered beverage, according to that nation's National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). The strain of cholera identified was "Vibrio cholera subtype 01" which is viewed as the most aggressive and infectious type of cholera. There have been at least 401 cases of cholera linked to this outbreak with several more suspected.

NOTE - The original subject title of this topic thread was "Cholera - Nigeria - 401 cases, 21 deaths - Source is unregistered beverage." The title has been changed to reflect the changing nature of the thread.

SUMMARY - The cholera outbreak in the country of Nigeria has grown to 528 cases with 53 deaths. 31 out of the 36 states within that country has been affected.
