Who's got the new "updated Covid-19 shot"?
« on: »
I thought that I would start a topic about the new 'updated Covid-19 vaccine.' Specifically, who has received the vaccination and their bodily reaction to it. I thought that it would be fun to share experiences. For the record, I just received the updated Covid-19 vaccine about an hour ago. I currently feel fine but I tend to have strong reactions that are about twelve hours delayed (which is partially the reason why I'm starting this topic now and not tomorrow).

Anyway, feel free to write your thoughts here about the new updated Covid-19 vaccine.

I'd just like to thank the very nice Walgreen pharmacy person who allowed me to be (realistically) a walk-in. He didn't have to administer the vaccination but he did. Although I am a little concerned about the pricing snafu that some people have been experiencing, I'd rather get a small bill that can be resolved than a much larger one by being admitted to a hospital.

Hubby & I got ours (Moderna) this wk at CVS. As far as side effects, He had itching at the injection site right after the shot, itching in random spots on his body since then, but no rash, and not even a sore arm. Previous shots he'd feel feverish, icky for a few hours, then Ok by the next day. This time I had no side effects at all, not even a sore arm -other shots I was feverish, icky for a day or so. It was definitely weird not having any side effects this time - not complaining though lol.

Thanks for replying, Lora W.

I'm about 14-15 hours in. Generally achy but not so much that laying down is the only option. Walking and standing up is a chore. I can do it but my body is really leery of doing those activities for more than a moment. When I went outside to retrieve the newspaper, I walked very casually as opposed to walking quickly or even lightly jogging. I don't have a lot of brain fog (I'm typing this reply out, after all) but, especially when standing or walking, there's a bit of lightheadedness. Injection point is sore and I can lift my arm 70% before significant discomfort occurs. Ate 20% of normal breakfast volume without too much difficulty but had zero appetite.

Overall, I almost think that this reaction is somewhat milder (but not mild) to what I was expecting as, I've written previously, my reactions tend to be strong. I am really glad that I am not going into work today (I normally wouldn't on a Saturday) but even if I could remote in (which I can't), I wouldn't do it.

Shared this post on Twitter. I had planned to get the covid booster shot this past week, however with my dad being positive for covid, that got put on hold. Hopefully next week I will be able to get it. So far I have stayed negative.

I think that I finally rounded the corner, so to speak, at about the 26-27 hour mark. I woke up from (yet another) nap and the brain fog is nowhere in sight. Still a bit fatigued, still a bit wobbly but definitely better than earlier in the day. I'll attempt a light dinner (I do have some hunger) and I've been drinking a lot more water lately. Injection site is still sore but manageable; No pick-up basketball games for me!  ;D

Anyway, I think that'll be the last entry for me about my reactions to the latest Covid-19 shot. Always interested in hearing how others fared. Remember - As bad as the reaction might be, it's better than being on a ventilator or in a hospital.
