OUTBREAK HORROR ‘Mystery fever’ that triggers organ failure kills 12 in India – as panicked officials launch probe

More than 600 residents have been screened and around 300 blood samples collected, with almost 20 confirmed Hepatitis B and C cases.
Reported symptoms of the illness include a fever, cough, body ache and vomiting.
Officials have also claimed some of the fatalities have been attributed to liver infections and multiple organ failure.
Four had confirmed Hepatitis B infections.
Hepatitis B and C are viral infections primarily impacting the liver, causing serious damage to the organ.
Both are blood-borne, and while a vaccine exists for hepatitis B making it preventable, no vaccine exists for hepatitis C.
Residents believe unsafe drinking water could be to blame with drinking water tests showing 23 of the 107 samples taken failed quality tests.
