Masked Man Survives Hurricane Helene Music Video
« on: September 29, 2024, 08:55:46 pm »
Here's my Masked Man Survives Hurricane Helene Music Video.
Of course I did it all my mask!
It's footage of the tail end of the Hurricane Helene where I live in the High Country , in the western mountains of North Carolina...I set the footage to my own singing as if the hurricane wasn't bad enough!
I sing in this video a little  "Row Row your boat","Didn't It Rain" originally sung by Rosetta Tharpe, "have You Ever Seen The Rain" by Creedence Clearwater Revival, "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head"by BJ Thomas, and "Singing In The Rain by Gene Kelly.
This film features special guest star: Scamp my little dog.
Our little creek became like a raging river and the water flooded over the road. But I didn't risk getting sick and remained steadfast in my mask as usual.

Hope you enjoy,

P.S.
This happening, to me is like the blueprints of where more covid and disease will occur.. To my observation, catastrophes like flooding and hurricanes  fuel super spreading events. Responding and  Rebuilding requires a certain finesse and care… I can’t help but feel the biblical proportions such as how floods and plagues sort of belong together, fueling one another.. People tend to throw all caution to the wind and totally forget all precautions calling upon each other for help but not even thinking about covid… While there’s only so much we can do to prevent certain catastrophic events we can control our response to danger by taking all the precautions such as masking while we are still in a pandemic. We don’t want to inadvertently lose more people to covid and disease while trying to help people during catastrophic events.(I can’t help to think about how the so-termed Spanish flu of 1918 took more lives than four wars combined.. twould be a shame to generate more deaths from covid because of lack of pandemic precautions during hurricane crisis response)

I encourage first responders and people gathering or stranded during such events to take all the precautions such as masks necessary to ward off unnecessary spreading of disease during these tragic events. I don’t want to survive a hurricane just to catch a disease .. lol.. wear a mask says the Masked Man ;)

I am glad that you are safe from the effects of the most recent hurricane.

I suppose, though, that we must also be mindful of the stresses and circumstances that other people faced when dealing with the hurricane and the aftermath. People who are under great duress might not remember to take Covid precautions or, due to life-threatening circumstances, deem such precautions to be momentarily unimportant in relation with harm to themselves or others.

Irregardless of such conditions, masking and other Covid precautions should resume when circumstances allow for it in order to avoid a worsening in cases, hospitalizations and deaths.

Oh yeah man, I second that.. now I see the aftermath people pulling dirty nasty stuff out of super dirty water and still no masks.. I kid you not so many fools willing to breathe in dirty stagnant moldy sewage animal infested water.. they’ll poison their own lungs with asbestos and corroded household water ravaged debri.. they breathe it all in.. you name it. There's no fine print label next to the flooded area or on a person who has covid  that reads: "warning may be bad for your health Do not inhale in enclosed area"  As it already is people think they are invincible and that they can breathe in anything from sheet rock dust to paint …I lived in in West Virginia for awhile and every old man I ever saw was sitting on his porch hooked up to an oxygen tank suffering black lung disease... I say don’t be a hero.. to me, the aftermath of hurricanes and flooding is thee best time to mask… there’s a reason in the Bible people get plagues and such during times of floods and other world changing events.. such catastrophes always make for ideal conditions for germs and viruses and bacteria! Perfect conditions for disease .. that water is dirty .. people shouldn’t expose their membranes to what the dirty waters have touched. It’s nasty. It’s no joke..not only that there’s tons of displaced people now crowding one another .. we are talking tons of people .. even in my dead end street it’s like a migrant wave of strangers all parked together at end of road throwing all caution to the wind inhabiting small dwellings together standing in line sharing bathroom.. if just one kid gets a fever or something their whole crew and several households are gonna get it. it’s the perfect time to mask!

To me or rather what I guard against is the invisible unseen stuff… for example, I think to myself: never underestimate the microscopic entities at play.. I simply chose not to breathe in a mysterious evolving microscopic entity that could lead to my downfall. To me:  I never underestimate what I can’t see.. what I  can’t see can kill or mess us up. In this case I have faith in what the electron microscope has proved to us and I respect that microscopic entity by wearing a mask for it.

Also, all through my childhood I kept small pets in terrariums..I can't stress enough how the study, keen observation and keeping of small creatures plays a vital part in the choices I make today for myself. I learned if I introduced too many other animals into my pets habitat , or if the conditions of the terrarium were off and the food source became nasty and so forth the worse for my pet. In other words a clean uncrowded terrarium with ideal climate and clean food and water source kept my pets healthy from microscopic things that harm or kill them. I figure it’s the same for our species and so when I enter a crowded dirty area I don’t breathe it in .. I wear my mask before entering unfavorable environment or crowd just like it’s  a dirty enclosed terrarium full of too many creatures already sick.. I wear a mask for these reasons.. I don’t wanna die from that. I take off my mask in my house of course it’s just me, a dog, a cat, and my significant other and our habitat inside the house seems favourable and safe enough for me :)
To me it’s as if I am not above the other animals.. a chameleon doesn’t thrive in all climates and seasons..nor does it function happily in the midst of just any type of other creatures or even around certain objects it doesn't belong around..some things are just incompatible.. same goes for my dwelling.. my dwelling is a man made environment suited and adapted just for for me to thrive in.. outside the dwelling I might face unfavorable climate/ atmosphere. I observe this with little creatures and it is the same as I. That’s what clothes food and shelter is all about.. I create a healthy habitat to live inside that suits my personal biological needs with certain boundaries not unlike a magnified version of a splendid habitats such as a luxurious healthy terrarium for just one chameleon knowing full well the dangers of letting extremes in and multitudes of other species onto my habitat.
For me that’s life .. that’s why I wear clothes .. that’s why I live in a house.. when I traverse outside my little habitat I prefer to wear a mask which is like a form of clothes but instead of protecting my skin the mask protects  my lungs by filtering matter I already know is contagious and makes people suffer. There’s nothing inhuman about my way of life. In fact it’s quite human having observed how to make small pets  and animals happy and having an imagination capable of understanding that there are things the eye can’t see that are to be avoided(electron microscopes have proved some of this) I feel quite human and am using human intellect to choose what I need insofar  as  my biological needs are concerned  as well as other goods I seek while pursuing happiness. In other words:  My mask doesn’t interfere with my happiness ..its power and utility gives me peace of mind and protects me from breathing in things that are dangerous for me when I'm in dangerous areas..My mask is a tool which helps me in my pursuit of human needs and happiness.

This sounds horrible but I can just feel it in my bones. I predict a wave of covid and other diseases unlike no other because of the aftermath of Hurricane Helene in my area..
There hasn't been a hurricane like this since 1913 and I hate to think people might soon say the same about this pandemic...
If I may quote Mark Honigsbaum's The Pandemic Century: "The precise genetic identities of pandemic strains prior to 1900 are lost to history, but in the twentieth century there have been three major shifts. The first was the H1N1 Spanish flu virus that emerged in 1918, or possibly a little earlier (by comparing older and more recent strains of the virus and running molecular clocks backward in time, evolutionary biologists suggest the virus may have acquired its avian genes somewhere between 1913 and 1917" ...Of course in our  present time, meaning right now, we have an even better well documented accounts of a mutating virus circulating amongst our political heroes, superstars and performing musicians..and of course our farmers face a virus from livestock of many sorts from cows, chickens to fur farms..
...as well intentioned and loving and giving people are, I see no masks or precautions being taken for covid during hurricane relief in my area whatsoever...no public awareness or public encouragement about covid precautions whatsoever.. (I'm sure victims of the hurricane don't want to hear this but I live amongst ye and something very similar to the Spanish flu could erupt.  Because the virus was new, very few people, if any, had some immunity to the disease. From 1918 to 1919, the Spanish flu infected an estimated 500 million people globally and took more lives  than four wars added together so who is bold enough to say covid won't take more lives than this one hurricane as life shattering as it is for so many when all we have to do is wear a mask?) Hurricanes are devastating.. diseases are devastating as well but we have the chance to prevent disease while we work and rebuild for one another the best we can.

Now displaced people gathering and sharing in close quarters & shelters..
... local churches are letting people drop their kids off all day ... if people don't get sick in that packed church of kids getting babysat all day it will be miracle.

...With Whoopi Goldberg possibly sick again..
all this while tons of politicians are still coming down with covid.. everyday rock bands that play to football stadiums of people packed together like sardines, cancelling shows  due to personal "illness".. it will be highly unlikely our maskless first responders and the people they are helping from the hurricane don't get sick.

I hope I'm wrong but if something is going to make people sick it will be this hurricane relief situation. This event has "super spreader " written all over it.. a recipe for  more disaster possibly a recipe for a new variant... I'm sure my advice will fall on deaf ears...  Time will tell of course.I hope no one gets sick during their goodwill and hard work helping one another. Bless your hearts,
The Masked Man
