Philadelphia Metro Area Measles Outbreak

In December 2023 There were Multiple exposures and confirmed cases of measles in the Philadelphia metro area. This included Southeast PA and northern Delaware. The First cases were at the Children's hospital of Philadelphia. Cases were then reported from a Day care center in northeast Philadelphia.

The CDC, says Measles can have a 10-12 day incubation period, Rashes can take up to 21 days to occur. This is an evolving situation. This thread will be updated as more news comes out on the outbreak.

Delaware's measles exposure Occurred at Nemours Children's Hospital on Friday December 29th between 6am and 12pm. Contact tracing shows that between 20 and 30 people have been exposed.

Now a case of measles has been confirmed in Camden, NJ.

*Officials know the infected person went to Cooper University Healthcare Pediatrics in Voorhees on January 5, between 11:35 a.m. and 2:32 p.m., and the emergency department at Jefferson South Jersey Stratford Hospital on Laurel Road on January 8, between 8 p.m. and 12:38 a.m.*

The City of Philadelphia confirmed an additional case of measles on Tuesday night, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to nine.

The health department says eight of these cases are in Philadelphia, while one is outside the city. This Case is associated with the day care outbreak and is the 5th case from it.

Also keep in mind there has been a case in Camden County, NJ as well.
