I think there is a distinction between  theoretical studies and practical studies… a theoretical study would be one based mostly on facts and data while a practical study tends to involve “know how” or ‘how to’ do something and/or the ‘why’ of something.

This particular study seems to be  a practical study in the sense it explores the ‘why’ we mask and states the  logical rationale and reasoning behind why many of us mask.

Legendary Guitarist Carlos Santana tested positive for Covid sometimes on Wednesday, April 23rd 2025 or Tuesday, April 22nd 2025. He was first rushed to the hospital before a show that Tuesday for dehydration. On Wednesday, April 23rd, it was announced that he had tested positive for Covid. Currently, Carlos Santana is 77 years old.

Barry Manilow tested positive for Covid on or around August 15th at the time of testing positive he was 81 years old. This is the first known positive case I can find for Barry.
