🚢 BREAKING: Luxury Cruise Hit by Mystery Illness The CDC is investigating after 27 individuals contracted a gastrointestinal illness on the Seven Seas Explorer, a Regent Seven Seas vessel that set sail from Miami bound for Honolulu. The outbreak unfolded during the Jan. 11 to Feb. 1 voyage, with the first cases emerging on Jan. 29. Among those who fell ill, 6 were crew members. Health officials have yet to identify what triggered the illness, and no updates have been provided on the condition of those affected. First US outbreak of 2026.

A gastrointestinal outbreak has sickened 21 guests and crew aboard Seven Seas Mariner.
This is the first reported illness outbreak for 2026, but the cause has not yet been confirmed.
The ship was sailing from Miami to Hawaii during the outbreak and has already continued on its next itinerary.

"Cruise ships are often called “petri dishes” and other derogatory names due to the tremendous crowds of thousands of guests in the same spaces..."

Excruciating tropical disease can now be transmitted in most of Europe, study finds
‘Shocking’ data shows the climate crisis and invasive mosquitos mean chikungunya could spread in 29 countries

Dr Steven White, also at UKCEH, said: “Twenty years ago, if you said we were going to have chikungunya and dengue in Europe, everybody would have said you were mad: these are tropical diseases. Now everything’s changed. This is down to this invasive mosquito and climate change – it really is as simple as that.
