Although this is primarily a tracking thread, just outta respect for people I will take the liberty of adding a note:
as to what some research says about the long term repercussions that are known about Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV).

Some research indicates,
Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) can have long-term repercussions, particularly in vulnerable populations (infants, elderly, immunocompromised). While most recover, it can cause chronic respiratory issues, including asthma, persistent airway hyperresponsiveness, and long-term lung function damage, especially following severe infections like bronchiolitis or pneumonia.
Potential Long-Term Repercussions & Complications

Respiratory Issues: HMPV may trigger or worsen asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Persistent Airway Issues: Studies have shown that HMPV can lead to chronic airway inflammation and significant airway obstruction/hyperresponsiveness.
Lung Function Impairment: For individuals with pre-existing conditions or those who had severe infections (e.g., lung transplant recipients), HMPV can cause lasting damage to how the lungs function.
Severe Acute Outcomes: Severe cases can lead to bronchitis, pneumonia, hospitalization, and, in some cases, death.

Risk Factors
Long-term effects are more likely in those with pre-existing lung disease, weakened immune systems, and in very young children or older adults. While most people recover, the virus can lead to severe, prolonged illness in these groups".

COMMENT: The long term repercussions of illness and diseases during times of outbreaks often goes neglected, unacknowledged, and unmentioned in many articles. I thought I'd warn people what will be in store for a portion of them and their loved ones with the long term repercussions of HMPV... To this day many public health authorities have failed to warn the public properly of the possible and existing long term repercussions of many of the illnesses and diseases they report on. Fair warning: there may be many other long term repercussions that we also don't know about and that research hasn't indicated to us about this virus.

New York City & Chicago & other areas *see "NOTE"...
6 March 2026

...There are references in this article that indicate Metapneumovirus (HMPV) is found or spreading in  New York City, Chicago, and elsewhere.

"A virus with no treatment or cure is hitting the US... Daily Mail map reveals if it is spreading where YOU live

A virus with no treatment or cure is spreading rapidly in the US

Human metapneumovirus, or HMPV, is transmitted via coughs or contact with a contaminated surface and causes cold-like symptoms such as a cough, fever, runny nose or sore throat.

Many people with the virus may not seek testing or treatment, so there are likely far more cases than what official data shows."

*NOTE: Currently 6 March 2026 at the articles site's aforementioned "LINK" above ...there is a map on this page that shows many areas across the U.S. that indicate levels of HMPV...
"Are you at risk from human metapneumovirus? Check the levels in YOUR area
Hover over the dots to reveal the HPMV levels in that area. You can zoom in for a closer look"

The Masked Man's COMMENT:

I'm not sure why in many of these articles  and so many articles that declare outbreaks of illnesses  keep saying public health officials say "not to panic".. No need for me to "panic" because my mask is on ;) Why would I panic? They are the ones that need to be panicking.. public officials should be publicly concerned if they aren't masking or making attempts to help people take precautions such as masking. I wear a mask so I'm not too worried about myself. I'd be panicking if I were a maskless public health official with a possible outbreaks of a virus that is not treatable but possibly preventable with masking and washing hands and clothes and body. I'm not so sure this is virus we want to endure. Those who tolerate it are liable to pass it on to those that can't tolerate it so I suggest at least trying not to catch viruses by taking preventative measures such as masking.

Respiratory virus that can cause 'barking' cough detected in Stamford wastewater, data shows

Fri, March 6, 2026 a

A respiratory virus has been detected in Connecticut wastewater, according to data from Stanford University.

High concentrations of the virus, called human metapneumovirus, or HMPV, were detected in Stamford wastewater from Feb. 25 to March 2, Stanford University's WastewaterSCAN tracker shows.

The respiratory illness, which typically lasts from winter through spring, can cause symptoms including cough, shortness of breath, fever and congestion. HMPV spreads through contaminated surfaces, the air and person-to-person contact.
