SUMMARY - A dairy herd in the state of Michigan has been discovered to be infected with Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI), bringing the total number of such herds infected in the state to 28. It is the first dairy herd discovered to be detected in that state in a month.

SUMMARY - A massive landslide in the Gangtok District (referred sometimes as "East Sikkim") in the country of India damaged over a dozen homes and has affected the repair of a hydroelectric project that was previously damaged by a prior climate-related event. There were no casualties reported.

SUMMARY - Two landslides in the country of Nepal claimed the lives of seven people. Four people were killed in the Bajhang district when a house was swept away, including a grandmother and two of her grandchildren. Three other people were killed in the Jajarkot district when a temporary shelter became buried in a landslide. The causes were not explicit although Nepal is currently in its monsoon season where heavy rainfalls frequently cause landslides.

SUMMARY - The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the Mpox (formerly known as "Monkeypox") outbreak on the continent of Africa a public health emergency of international concern. The Democratic Republic of Congo (not to be confused with the Republic of Congo) along with nearby countries are experiencing outbreaks of the illness at this time. Part of the concern by countries and organizations is that the current strain of Mpox is considered deadlier and more contagious than previous strains.

SUMMARY - Five people have been stricken with Legionnaire's Disease after being near a resort hotel in the state of New Hampshire. The suspected source for the disease is a cooling tower that, for unknown reasons, is still in operation while officials implement methods to eradicate the disease. Persons within a half-mile of the cooling tower are advised to watch themselves for symptoms.

SUMMARY - In the state of Maharashtra, the city of Nashik is dealing with 103 cases of Dengue Fever in the past week alone. The government response to this outbreak has been for the Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) sending 62 teams to over 18,000 households to identify and eradicate possible breeding sites for mosquitoes, amongst other activities.
