SUMMARY - Tirzepatide, the active ingredient in the anti-obesity drug Zepbound, may also be an effective treatment to Long Covid due to its supposed anti-inflammatory effect on the body. A study is currently being organized by the Scripps Research Translational Institute to see if this theory is valid.

SUMMARY - A small study found that a blood test could identify whether someone had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) with 92% accuracy. Since CFS and Long COVID have some biological overlap, this research could potentially lead to a blood test for the latter condition. It's unclear exactly when either test might be available.

SUMMARY - A recent study found that personalised resistance training significantly improved physical function, quality of life and mental health in adult Covid-19 survivors. Participants who engaged in strength training for three months showed better walking distances, improved quality of life and reduced anxiety, highlighting its role in post-Covid recovery.

SUMMARY - Adolescents who were vaccinated against COVID-19 were less likely to develop long COVID after their first SARS-CoV-2 infection than unvaccinated peers, finds a new study. The new study included over 1,200 adolescents from across the United States; 724 were vaccinated against COVID in the six months prior to their first infection and 507 were not vaccinated. The researchers found that the risk of developing long COVID was over 20% among unvaccinated youths and about 13% among those who were vaccinated—representing a 36% reduction in risk after vaccination.

Bird Flu (HPAI) / Spain Implements New Measures to Combat HPAI
« on: November 11, 2025, 01:48:54 pm »
SUMMARY - The nation of Spain has implemented new measures as of November 10, 2025, in an effort to protect itself from the spread of HPAI (Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza). As part of a national prevention strategy, the rearing of poultry outdoors is now restricted in officially designated high-risk and surveillance zones, where migratory birds present a higher likelihood of carrying the virus.

SUMMARY - A new study has been released suggesting that female college students have not been recovering academically as quickly as males since what is considered to be the 'end' of the Covid-19 pandemic. Mental health and learning loss are some of the big reasons researchers suspect for the difference. This also corresponds to earlier and similar studies that the effect is not limited to college but has also been seen in high school and grade school as well.

SUMMARY - Children with atopic dermatitis (AD), commonly known as eczema, may experience fewer infections and allergic complications if they receive the COVID-19 vaccine, according to new research being presented at the 2025 American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology (ACAAI) Annual Scientific Meeting in Orlando. “The results indicate that vaccination may help reduce the likelihood of atopic disease progression, such as the development of asthma, in children with eczema,” said Dr. Yang. “It reinforces the safety and potential added benefits of COVID-19 vaccination in this vulnerable population.”

SUMMARY - The order in which one developed chronic conditions before getting infected with COVID-19 can influence their risk of long COVID, symptoms that persist despite recovery, according to a new study. "It is not enough to know which diseases a person has. The order in which they appear can significantly influence risk (of long COVID), especially among women," said first author Natalia Blay from the Germans Trias i Pujol Research Institute in Spain.

SUMMARY - The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) has issued a reminder about the dangers of consuming raw milk after 11 people recently fell ill. The IDPH has identified an outbreak of Campylobacter infection connected to raw milk from a single source. State health officials said the producer is notifying customers and cooperating with the investigation.

NOTE - Despite online searches, I couldn't find the identity of the "single source."

SUMMARY - The largest study of its kind has revealed that the Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 vaccine presents considerably fewer problems for children and young people than the virus itself. The new study included health records from 13.9 million children under the age of 18 from January 1, 2020 and December 31, 2022.

SUMMARY - A new Covid strain called 'BRZ batCoV' has been found in Brazilian bats. Closer to MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) than the Covid strains that we are used to, it still represents a significant danger as MERS tends to have a higher mortality rate (although the transmission rate is lower).

SUMMARY - Patients with advanced lung or skin cancer who received a COVID-19 mRNA vaccine within 100 days of starting immunotherapy drugs lived significantly longer than those who did not get the vaccine, researchers have found.

UPDATE 1 - This study is not related to the study in Data Report's post on a study with a similar result but it is interesting that there are now TWO studies suggesting roughly the same thing.
