I would love to see more events like this! Today I just got back from my fourth Masked Bicycle ride 6 mile round trip to Women's agricultural Center and back .. I picked up my box of vegetables in my safety mask! I just drink a ton of water at home before I stick my mask on so I don't have to take my mask off even once during the whole trip. I stick a box of vegetables in a backpack and ride home. It was a nice ride. Would have loved to see other people masking in public like myself ...but whatever.. not only did I pickup my vegetables, but I listened to music the whole time through my earbuds.. last trip I listened to a historian/philosopher giving a lecture about some classic literature through my earbuds as I rode my bicycle up and down sidewalks and sections of road and across town and back in my mask, The Masked Man

Salmonella illnesses linked to contact with backyard poultry
Investigation Update: Salmonella Outbreak, April 2026 Apr. 23, 2026 For Everyone
Public health officials in several states are investigating a multistate outbreak of Salmonella illnesses linked to contact with backyard poultry. Any backyard poultry can carry Salmonella germs that can make you sick. Always take steps to stay healthy around your flock.
LINK: https://www.cdc.gov/salmonella/outbreaks/saintpaul-04-26/investigation.html
NOTE/COMMENT: They don't even have to consume it to get Salmonella... They are getting Salmonella by simply handling live poultry,,
I am but a layperson on the matter but I don't understand why this is even happening because shouldn't farmers be masking and using gloves and goggles anyway because of potential avian flu? It just surprises me people aren't already taking precautions against avian flu because if they were I assume the same precautions might ward off Salmonella as well.
"The precautions for avian flu and Salmonella are highly compatible, with good hygiene, thorough cooking , and avoiding contact with sick birds or their feces being effective against both. Key actions include washing hands frequently, wearing gloves when handling poultry/bird feeders, and preventing wild birds from interacting with backyard flocks"
"Public Health Actions CDC advises everyone to take steps to stay healthy around backyard poultry. CDC and state partners are working with hatcheries and stores that sell poultry to educate new poultry owners and control the spread of Salmonella at hatcheries."
P.S. I'm always making the same point over and over: By taking precautions such as masking, washing hands and clothes, etc. we wind up protecting ourselves not just from one virus but from a multitude of viruses. When you mask, you wind up protecting yourself from numerous airborne illness and airborne diseases simultneously all at the same time.
...Update.. Multi-State Outbreak Of Drug-Resistant Salmonella Sickening Young Kids By iHeartRadio Apr 28, 2026 A multi-state salmonella outbreak linked to backyard poultry is raising alarms among federal health officials, with some infections showing resistance to common antibiotics. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed at least 34 people across 13 states have been sickened by the same strain of salmonella, all traced to contact with backyard birds. Thirteen of those patients required hospitalization. No deaths have been reported so far. Illnesses were reported between Wednesday (February 26) and Tuesday (March 31). The patients range in age from less than one year old to 78 years old, with a median age of just 12. More than 40% of those infected are children younger than five. SIDE-COMMENT: Just an observation..The one thing missing in athletics is it's practical side... its always competitive and I'd just like to mention to the layperson about the merits of being athletic and it being of practical benefit in daily activities. Today I walked with my loved one and we both wore masks...I mowed my lawn in my mask with a self propelled(non-gas/electric) lawnmower.. and in a couple days I'll be making my fourth trip this season/year to the women's Agricultural center across town and back on my bicycle (a six mile round trip) to pick up my farmer's market vegetable box in my mask. Its kind of exciting because I am using athletics for practical ends and unlike most all these athletes I wear a mask and so I get the best of it all.. I get to be an athlete and I never get sick and I'm probably healthy and safe going at my own pace .. I'm 55 years old! So anyway I compete with myself and simply want people to know you can use athletics safely and for practical reasons (and not just in an arena competitively) and one can wear a mask to make it safer like I do. I am happy to say I haven't had any airborne illness or airborne diseases in over 6 years of masking and so unlike the bicyclist in this article (who may or may not have acquired his illness from an airborne illness or airborne disease), I will be able to to participate in a beautiful masked bicycle ride this week to pick up my farmer's market box of vegetables yet again this week! I hope this may inspire others and other athletes to mask and to think of how they can use athletics and masking to profit and enrich their lives like I do! My game and my trophy is never getting sick and therefore never making my 78 year old loved one sick either.. so far I'm undisputed champion and I have to give credit to the mask, yeah some people don't even defend themselves.. I just think it better to take a position and play defense against airborne illness and airborne disease in a mask in the game of life, The Masked Man P.S. Personally I don't see what athletes don't just ban together and form a sort of co-op and community where they actually use there athletic abilities and physical prowess. Able bodied men and woman could really do well masking in public, bicycling everywhere and raising gardens... but that's just me thinking in practical worldly terms... ...I just think those really into long term health and a good way of life would use their amazing physical abilities towards self preservation and the good life rather than merely competing with one another for medallions and such. Imagine what a bunch of really powerful physically agile able-bodied men and women who masked together and cooperated could achieve if they could only cooperate with one another's best interests? Most of these athletes I dare say are like shooting stars and many don't end up really healthy in the long run from what I observe.. tis a shame their abilities seem wasted in my humble opinion. Seems to me these athletes could get so much more from their amazing skills of physical prowess and dexterousness than what they actually wind up with in life.

Cambodia Confirms 4th H5N1 Case in 2026, Raising Fears of Wider Outbreak April 22, 2026 PHNOM PENH — Cambodia has confirmed a fourth human case of H5N1 bird flu this year, health authorities said on April 22, intensifying concerns over a fast-evolving virus that is spreading through poultry and increasingly spilling over into humans. The latest patient, a 66-year-old woman from Svay Rieng province, tested positive for the virus on April 21 and is now in isolation receiving intensive medical care, according to a Ministry of Health press release. The case marks the newest development in what officials and researchers are warning is a worrying resurgence of avian influenza in the country. Preliminary investigations suggest the woman had been exposed to infected poultry, with chickens and ducks reported dead at her home and in her village in Poat Chamreun Commune, Svay Chrum District, in the days leading up to her illness. Authorities have launched an urgent response, deploying teams to trace contacts, identify the source of infection, and contain further spread in both human and animal populations. Happy 'Earth Day' everybody... "Earth Day is celebrated annually on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. Founded in 1970 by U.S. Senator Gaylord Nelson to increase awareness of environmental issues, it is now a global event spanning over 180 countries. The 2026 theme is "Our Power," focusing on climate action through individual actions like cleanups and advocacy." I honor and celebrate 'Earth Day' by using the bicycle as my main mode of transportation...I have always been into bicycles so as usual I ride my bicycle every week to pick up our box of fresh farmers Market vegetables from the Local Women's Agricultural Center. I have been wearing respirator style mask/n95 mask for my health and safety during my bicycling adventures with much success Masked Man Bicycle Rides found here LINK:https://www.datareport.info/miscellaneous-discussions/masked-man's-bicycle-ride-today-set-to-music-to-inspire-others-to-mask-up/I'm sure each of you honor the earth earth in your own special way or fashion... I'm not real keen on big gatherings and herds of people getting together in each others faces to celebrate stuff so let's celebrate earth day in our own way.. what better way than to celebrate by cranking up an electric guitar and just jamming from my bedroom for ya eh!? Here's my stay at home and play it safe Earth Day Appreciation Concert: My Electric Guitar is Zingin' For You! VIDEO LINK:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPOxXDeKNYUKeep on rockin' and rollin' from, Rockin' Richard, a.k.a. The Masked Man P.S. As Usual Be safe, if you must go out wear an n95 mask, otherwise stay home brothers and sisters. I prefer to stay at home and jam from my bedroom for ya hoping you will share what you love, what interests you, and always try to work out problems and even your feelings remotely and creatively online! Its Always a Thrill getting to play music for ya safely online here at Data Report Info! & P.S. again, I also use a self propelled mower and let pretty dandelions grow and flourish! When I was a kid, I carried newspapers on my back and chest and delivered newspapers door to door seven days a week after school int the heat, rain, sleet, and snow for something like three years straight... so nowadays riding a bicycle in my mask with a box of vegetables on my back is like nothing for me but fun. Update: I really had a great experience on my masked bicycle trip to Women's Agricultural Center and back. I've made this trip and milage in my mask so many times that I just felt safe and smart the whole time ..because I was on a mission and this is routine for me I had inner confidence and inner pride about being masked. I just felt good about myself. Maybe my confidence will rub off on others and they will believe in themselves and more maskers will evolve in my little town. It might be that some of the onlookers actually have respect for my masking ... ...I sensed respect from those I rode by on my bicycle & at the Women's Agricultural Center. I just sort of got vibes on my trip and sensed that the others respected me as I pedaled by in my mask and I felt like I had self respect and carried myself that way on my errand in my mask. Not that it matters because I'm wearing my mask no matter what but it is a bonus to at least feel 'respected' and somewhat accepted. I felt real natural in my mask today. Of course I prefer the company of other maskers and I am still going to keep my social distance from others.. but inso far as a 'pickup' order from a very industries friendly group goes like the Women's Agricultural Center or on the road bicycling I felt quite respected and it felt quite natural to be masked with the somewhat close encounters I had with people today. I felt like I displayed my normal good cheer and attitude about how beautiful a day it is around the few close encounters that I did have with others in public today. The mask certainly did not deter me from being an awesome person!

Long COVID stemmed from mild cases of COVID-19 in most people 90% of people living with long COVID initially experienced only mild illness. The Conversation – Jan 5, 2023 Even mild COVID-19 cases can have major and long-lasting effects on people’s health. That is one of the key findings from our recent multicountry study on long COVID-19—or long COVID—recently published in the Journal of the American Medical Association. LINK:https://arstechnica.com/science/2023/01/long-covid-stemmed-from-mild-cases-of-covid-19-in-most-people/COMMENT: I am uncomfortable with the term 'mild'... its term I have seen people in the public write, say, or label cases that it's only a mild case...To me that seems kind of subjective and dismissive of the seriousness of this disease ... Its not a taco sauce that you can label mild or medium, its a disease that can carry long term repercussions detrimental to physical and mental health! Don't think your safe just because the initial infection is 'mild' or even asymptomatic... ...Think of how many people covid can infect if the cases are but 'mild' and more and more people catch it because they turn a blind eye to the long term repercussions that covid has shown to carry. If my math is correct: more cases mean more long covid for everybody regardless of how bad people feel the first few days weeks or years after catching covid. It's to the advantage of the disease that people catch it and don't bother to take precautions such as masking to prevent it. The disease spreads more because people think they can whip it and don't respect the long term aspect of it. Excuse me for drawing these parallels but to my observation: This covid is too much like the street drug 'crack' .. people think they can handle catching covid but in reality they just can't handle catching it over and over... these are just my personal views but the majority of studies on long covid clearly spell physical and mental damage from covid. Take care, The Masked Man P.S. This was the reasoning as to why I started masking to begin with in 2020.. the disease was relatively novel or at least not much was known about it .. nobody I know lived with the disease half their life yet.. we just don't know what this disease will do to people 7 years or more down the road.. I masked not because I was afraid of surviving the initial infection .. I masked because I was and still am unclear as to what covid does to people in the long haul and because of the possible long term repercussions. Diseases can carry long term repercussions and problems many years down the road. I mask for health reasons and will continue to because I prefer it now that I have reaped it benefits... the mask has contributed to my safety, my wellbeing, and peace of mind.

The Cross River State Government reported a new case of COVID-19 on Tuesday, April 21, 2026. The State Commissioner for Health, Dr Henry Ayuk, announced this at a news conference in Calabar, the state capital. According to Ayuk, the first reported case of the outbreak involved a Chinese national who worked with Lafarge and flew into the country on March 17 before falling ill. He stated that the Chinese’s condition became worse at the medical facility in his office, and he was taken to the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital (UCTH). Although he stated that there had been silent infections and clear cases from time to time. “But we are determined that for every ailment, every disease or outbreak, if it is identified here in the state, there should be no alarm. “The state will do well in terms of surveillance or containment of an outbreak. Whatever it is, we will do our best to contain it. So, there is no alarm. “When this case was reported about three or four days ago, we decided to be careful to confirm and ensure that the processes involved in identifying and confirming every case of COVID-19 are duly followed."
