SUMMARY - Severe Covid-19 changed blood-forming stem cells to produce monocytes that, in turn, produced more inflammatory cytokines than people who were healthy or had non-Covid illnesses. This could explain why people with "Long Covid" may experience high levels of inflammation throughout their body.
NOTE - This was a small study of only 38 participants and, like all small studies, may not be representative of what is occurring.
