SUMMARY - People who suffered from asthma prior to the Covid-19 pandemic fared better than the general population when it came to receiving a severe case of Covid-19. The mechanism for this increased protection is not presently known. People with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) fared worse than the general population when it came to receiving a severe case of Covid-19.
