SUMMARY - EG.5.1, nicknamed "Eris," is causing Covid-positivity rates in the UK to rise again. Although the rises are considered 'small' (1.97 per 100,000 admissions as opposed to 1.17 per 100,000 admissions previously), it is significant enough to warrant the attention of the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA). Two factors are cited for the increase: Bad weather and the population's desire to see the movies "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" (the two movies together are sometimes referred to as "Barbenheimer").
