LA County reports record typhus outbreak; 90% hospitalized

"The Brief
Los Angeles County has reached a record 220 flea-borne typhus cases this year, with a concerning 90% hospitalization rate.
Outbreaks are confirmed in Santa Monica, Willowbrook, and Central City, surpassing the 187 cases reported in 2024.
Health officials urge residents to treat pets for fleas and clear wildlife attractants to curb the spread of the disease."
