SUMMARY - An outbreak of Equine herpesvirus (EHV) amongst horses in the American Southwest has forced the cancellation of a rare type of parade in the state of Kansas where all of the vehicles in the parade are horse-driven. EHV has many different forms, from the equivalent to a head cold to much more severe illnesses that could be fatal.
