SUMMARY - Eel contaminated with Staphylococcus aureus has killed one person and sickened over 150 other people in Japan. The eel was sold by Nihonbashi Unagi Isesada, a popular eel establishment at the Keikyu department store in the city of Yokohama. An investigation has revealed food safety violations, such as employees not wearing gloves when preparing the meals and wrongly labeled expiration dates.
