Title: India - Four-year old recovers from H9N2 illness, 1st human case for country this year

SUMMARY - A four-year old child in the country of India has recovered from a bout of HPAI (Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza) that occurred between January and May of this year (2024). The strain that infected the child was H9N2. Authorities believe that the child was infected through poultry, either at his home or from the nearby area. It is the first human case of HPAI infecting a human in India this year.
