Title: Measles - USA - Officials declare Chicago outbreak over after 64 cases

SUMMARY - Officials have declared that the outbreak of measles in the city of Chicago (country: United States) is now over after three months and 64 cases. There have been no new cases since April 20th. City public health officials urge citizens to get vaccinated.

Cook County, Illinois has now reported it’s second Measles case.

Title: First measles case in DuPage county since 2009

SUMMARY - The first measles case since 2009 has been found in DuPage County, a "collar county" that is considered part of the city of Chicago. Authorities do not believe that the case occurred because of shelters in the city.

SUMMARY - The city of Chicago (in the state of Illinois which is in the country of the United States) has since registered 52 cases of measles since early March 2024. 73% of such cases are in children and 60% of the cases involve children who are y ears old or younger.

SUMMARY - The number of measles cases in Chicago has since risen to 26, according to the Illinois Department of Public Health, which includes four new cases just this week (March 24 through March 30).

NOTE - An earlier topic in this section also detailed the rise in Chicago measles cases. As that article summary also contained the state of Arizona, I have started a Chicago-specific topic.
