SUMMARY - A team of scientists at the University of Alberta (in the country of Canada) have developed a new class of antiviral drugs that has the potential to treat Covid-19. The new class of drugs has only been tested in mice so far. Covid-19, in part, causes individual cells to stop producing interferon. Interferon is used by the body to stop infected cells from producing more virus. The new class of drugs reverses this effect, causing the cells to produce interferon.
