Title: Flu vaccine 42% effective - Better Than in Recent Years - Yamagata to be Removed?
Post by: Steve on February 29, 2024, 03:54:13 pm
SUMMARY - The CDC has estimated that this year's flu vaccine has been 42% effective against the flu strains circulating. This percentage is better than others in recent years. The CDC is also considering dropping the "B/Yamagata" component to the quadrivalent (meaning a vaccine protecting against 4 flu strains) vaccine and reducing the vaccine down to a trivalent (protecting against 3 strains). The reason for dropping "B/Yamagata" is that it has not been seen since the 2020 flu season.
