SUMMARY - The Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste (otherwise known as East Timor) is experiencing their first ever outbreak of chikungunya, a disease that causes debilitating joint pain and is spread by mosquitoes. The risk of death is 1 in 1,000. There is presently no vaccine available for this disease.
