« on: July 17, 2025, 03:55:39 pm »
SUMMARY - A ritual in India called the "Amarnath yatra" ("yatra" is a pilgrimage) has been suspended after a landslide, caused by continuous heavy rainfall for nearly 36 hours, killed one woman and injured three others. The incident happened along the Baltal route in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

NOTE - The region is historically contested between the nations of Pakistan and India. The subject title is not an official position as to which nation this region of the world should belong to but merely reflecting current borders.

SUMMARY - Four people are dead and at least one hundred are missing from a massive landslide in Dharali village in the state of Uttarakhand.

NOTE - States in India differ from "union territories" in that states have their own government (much like a state in the United States) while "union territories" (such as the areas in the disputed region of Kashmir) are governed directly by the central government of India.
