New(new to those that just acknowledged it... its really like been over a year  circulating and in the making ) variant with immune escape potential confirmed in US, 22 other countries
March 23, 2026

The highly mutated SARS-CoV-2 BA.3.2 variant, which has been reported by at least 23 countries as of February 11, has been detected in nasal swabs collected from four US travelers, clinical samples from five patients, three airplane wastewater samples, and 132 wastewater surveillance samples from 25 states

BA.3.2 mutations in the spike protein could reduce protection from a vaccination or infection, “continued genomic surveillance is needed to track SARS-CoV-2 evolution and determine its potential effect on public health,” they added.

COMMENT:
It is worth mentioning Covid can include Long Covid as well.

N95 masks help prevent airborne illnesses and airborne diseases,
The Masked Man

P.S. People should be masking by now.

Man!, the maskless people really have it tough.. what a horrible way to live!

I tell you one thing I'd be freak'in out if I was maskless. I don't see how the maskless people can handle living like that day to day with that covid and long covid hanging over ya. To me it would be like some stranger you don't know or trust is right there over your shoulder all the time or always there behind you breathing down your neck. I wouldn't be able to sleep at night if I hadn't worn my mask in public that day... I'd be worrying all night thinking this covid, this new variant could really ruin me! I'd be wondering it was worth standing next to some maskless dummy out in public and if just because I talked to some stupid maskless person who was standing too close  me could have given it to me.

Thank the heavens for my mask!... all I did today was ride my bike past some maskless moron in the sidewalk and I went way around him. I had my mask on of course so I should be fine.... I also went up to some maskless phone company guy who was in my yard looking at a telephone pole .. he informed me they  are putting in some fast internet line .. I had my mask on for that too. I'm not stupid.. I'm not risking covid for a stupid frivolous encounter with a telephone guy or any fool out in public ... I stood far away from that maskless sitting duck, found out what he was doing in my yard, and  then when I got back inside I just slap some soap over parts of my body and sprayed my bandannas and outer part of mask with just a little rubbing alcohol....

....So I'd say I probally won't get it like the maskless will. I should be fine ..right? It's all about me, man!  ;) At this stage I just concentrate on my own safety and I try to keep my distance from the maskless. God help them. So far so good for me. I wear a mask so I don't keep the variants alive and I don't need divine interventions to save me from the risks of covid or long covid and I probably don't have to worry about giving it to my loved one either because we mask and I wash my hands and change my clothes. It's an awesome feeling. What's really cool is I always mask outdoors anyway. This is a piece of cake for me.

I got it made because I've already got six years of successfull public and outdoor masking experience. It's easy for me. Masking is  a strong formed established habit and like second nature for this old boy! I don't have to do anything different from what I am already doing. I'm scared for society .. you never know with each new variant what exactly will be the repercussions of this evolving covid and long covid. To me that's just Russian roulette to go maskless nowadays with all the crap that is going on. To me Its like the world is way too big for it's own britches.. I'm just going to be humble, mask and try to stay out of it as much as possible.

Seriously don't you think it rude?... I take care of an elderly loved one and we mask and some maskless stranger is in my yard next to the telephone pole.. I have to go out there and ask if this work is going to impact on the land by the telephone pole because I don't want them altering a mound there on the property that serves a little like a dam or bank so that when the floods enter the field water won't enter the yard ... whatever! Its not real close to the house  but I swear it's rude to go onto someones property without a mask or at least have one ready so you can put one on for a guy who is masking.. If you work in the general public always have a mask ready so you can at least  mask for those you serve who might actually be masking such as me the Masked Man! What if some little old lady needs your help or something and you can't mask for her!? That would be pathetic nowadays in this era. I don't particularly like maskless people approaching me especially in my own yard!

I can't imagine waking up wondering if this will be a really bad bout of covid for the maskless this time round.  That's why I mask! For who can live with the uncertainty or rather the certainty of getting covid!  Who in there right mind would want to play around with that chance of long covid? I love my mask.... it keeps me from worrying as much about people that make me and each other sick.

I do wonder if with each new variant if it will be a really bad case of covid again for the maskless. Wear a mask it will help me feel safer for ya too!

NOTE: seriously how can this variant be 'new' considering its already in 22 countries? That's impossible for something to be new that has been circulating in 22 countries already! I think I remember reading that the variant has been circulating since 2025 maybe even late 2024  .. I guess they mean its becoming more prevalent rather than new.
