Covid has been far from being eradicated. Its such an immature rash statement to say the pandemic is over and to let down the guard against covid. In the last five years I can’t count how many times Brazilian presidents and American government officials have downplayed or simply denied covid is even a problem .. every year political declarations have been made there is no pandemic yet the waves of covid ebb and flow proven by the very wastewater data they contribute to. Then out pops another new variant! Surprise! surprise! Wastewater doesn’t lie.
The media, RFK and constituency, or whoever is still in the 'make believe country' pretending, should definitely retract their wishful thinking that the pandemic is over. Covid just doubled in Taiwan. This is small world after all and for anyone that is literate and can read the news it is a grave injustice to say the pandemic is over considering Taiwan is just a mere jet plane ride away.
To think any country's struggle with disease and illness is separate from other countries in this day and age of speedy transportation is just plain dumb. Every country in the world is but a neighbor to one another nowadays because of our state of the art transportation. What goes around comes around stands for all these variants emerging thus far it doesn't discriminate as it circulates.
I take proofs from around the globe whether than one or two countries boasting there are no more covid problems here... I look at the world as a whole and also I see covid in wastewater as proof of pandemic and proof of prospective catastrophic denial of human suffering from a dangerous disease that breaks people down exponentially.
Politicians (especially those that travel and dine out a lot and mingle) need to come to grips with the reality that people migrate like birds nowadays and that jet planes and world trade trade and world collaboration exists. It is not helpful or even realistic to claim that a pandemic is over when clearly it exists in other parts of the world such as it clearly does for Taiwan. We are but a link in the chain amongst countries.
... there is nothing special about people in this country or the next that make it practical or wise to deem a pandemic is over while new variants continue to emerge. One could say that no man is an Island and just the same No country is an island anymore. If it happens in the world, one might as well say it is happening worldwide such is our ability to transport ourselves and mingle.
...They might want to consider calling it the "Long Covid Pandemic" as well. The pandemic couldn't possibly be over considering long covid exists and a new variant(s) keep emerging from their/our bodies.

What does the proof is in the pudding mean? It means people are dying more and the pandemic is not over by a long covid shot and beware of new variant!
There's no substantial evidence that predicts how in the future the next variant of covid will take its toll on people. Insofar as I know it is not humanly possible to predict it won't get worse and mathematically it appears likely that cases in long covid will only accumulate if they move along at the rate things are already going the problems will pile on exponentially according to my observations and ability to deduce things as they occur.
