Not too mention 'Zombie deer' are probably easier targets for hunters 

...I would venture to say the likelihood of a hunter shooting a deer that has Chronic Wasting Disease is probably pretty high considering the diseased deer is disoriented , probably straying from the pack and is probably not as startled by a hunter... meaning hunters are far more likely to shoot an unhealthy slow deer than an alert healthy fast one. A diseased deer is probably the last to run and might just stand there!

A diseased animal is simply easy prey for a hunter and is therefore more likely to end up consumed by the unsuspected hunter.

I would also wonder and be wary if a hunter can determine whether or not a deer or elk has early stage chronic Wasting disease. Maybe some of the deer or elk don't look that sick but still have it. Maybe one can't always tell by the deer or elk that just got Chronic Wasting disease in that first day or two...

I guess there are tests available for hunters...  I'll post a couple possible solutions for those that hunt (I am not totally or completely opposed to all forms of hunting  ..there are hunters in my family... at least there exists a procedure for testing CWD available )

Might as well Mask...I certainly would wear a mask whether I was around a dead one or a live one ..You might crawl on your belly hunting for a good shot through the brush and Ya got turkey nesting in some of those areas where avian flu can be and deer can have Covid too!

Never forget you are being hunted too! Viruses are like tiny invisible microscopic hunters with strength that far exceeds their weight. this isn't something I alone made up ...They don't call it 'flu season' for nothing... That's why in hunter’s terminology, just like ‘deer season’ they call it 'flu season'.. that implies we are being preyed upon and we are the ‘game’ that we are in 'season' for viruses that are hunting us. Anyway even scientists are also deeply concerned some serious diseases could jump to other species including humans as aforementioned in the articles.

Via mind expanding scientific discovery Gotta watch out for one another. For those capable of this kind of reasoning of likelihoods , Might as well mask for one another to reduce the novel emerging virus’s/microscopic entity’s ability to get us and reduce us.

Methinks, Much better safe than sorry. It's well worth masking with so much at stake. We all know what living with a disease can be like… viruses can be like interrogators with enhanced torture techniques.
