SUMMARY -  A cat in the state of Oregon has died after eating raw cat food that contained the H5N1 bird flue virus (otherwise referred to as HPAI, Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza). Northwest Naturals, a pet food company based in Portland, Oregon, said Tuesday it had voluntarily recalled one batch of its two-pound Feline Turkey Recipe raw frozen pet food after it tested positive for the virus.

Masked Man Side-Note: Even though bird flu wasn't happening at the time I thought about this when covid first came out and was being discovered in deer and they speculated beef cattle might get covid and because I had some dog food that contained deer meat in it and beef and I started contemplating microwaving my pet food..

...now this reasoning to worry should apply to bird flu that's for sure.  I thought about the possibility of pet food being tainted because for all I know maybe it doesnt get overseen probably as strictly as other foods and simply has tons of different animal ingredients in it...maybe a lot of raw things in it don't get cooked enough.

Someone can further study this but I'm not sure pet food get the same FDA tests people food does... I don't know much about pet food but its scary enough that I'm going to microwave my dog and cat food a little from now on just to warm it up and just in case the microwave helps kills germs or virus's in some of the  raw ingredients animals may be prone to  in these products...

I'm not sure if this helps or not but it's MICRWOWAVE TIME for Fido's meal!!!  Might as well heat it up! what have I got to lose by microwaving it? Not only that I don't wanna get bird flu from my own dog and cats just in case! That just makes sense to cook it! I guess technically bringing things to a boil kills germs.

In the meanwhile if Someone else in this forum can research that germ killing heating procedure and reply that would be great.

P.S. Ive got a little Chihuahua breed that sleeps in the same bed as me and a little kitten that plays on my chest! I think I can manage to nuke or cooks their meals...lol

By the way, this may account for some of the mysterious human bird flu cases.. you never know but its quite feasible some of these people with bird flu got it from playing with pets. If people get bird flu from their pets then that's gonna skyrocket bird flu numbers... Look at all the cats that are sick in the zoos. These local veterinarians and animal care and control people better mask up ..its not looking pretty.

I just fed "Scamp" my dog his food microwaved and he wolfed it down and he likes it better warmed up like that.
