SUMMARY - The chickens at a poultry farm in the state of Victoria (country: Australia) has been infected with HPAI (Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza), bringing the total of poultry farms infected in Australia with HPAI so far to four. To date, the strain of HPAI that has infected humans, birds and cattle in the United States (H5N1) is not the same strain that has infected farms in Australia (H7N3 & H7N9).

SUMMARY - A commercial egg farm in the state of New South Wales, Australia, has been infected with HPAI (Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza). An estimated 100,000 poultry are expected to be killed. This is NSW's first HPAI outbreak since 2013. The strain detected was H7N8. Government officials stress that there is no threat to the egg supply for consumers.
