ICE confirms a measles outbreak in the nation's largest detention facility in Texas
The agency said it's closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with public health authorities while the facility has been closed to visitors and attorneys.
At least 14 cases of measles have been confirmed at the nation’s largest ICE detention facility, an agency spokesperson told NBC News in a statement.

Everybody has the right to legal representation especially when they are sick. People who are sick are often not of sound body or mind, not in a position to represent themselves and in need of representation. Sounds to me attorneys should be coordinating with public health authorities as well... sounds to me everybody there is going to need an attorney eventually including those operating the ICE detention facility.. you'd think the codes of Amnesty international or the Geneva convention would apply. .. gotta keep your captives healthy and clean! There is typically certain conventions, standards, procedures, responsibilities and ethics involved If you are gonna confine somebody...
...and not allowing a sick person access to attorneys and legal representation is considered typically to be a pretty big 'no-no' amongst most civilized societies including countries other than the U.S. Of course I am just a layperson and just a dumb wanna-be musician so what do I know? I would definitely be afraid of legal repercussions by not allowing attorneys who were compliant with public health authorities and taking necessary medical precautions into a detention center.
I guess a comparable example would be like .. okay some American guy has friends in Canada,, he sneaks over there and authorities can't figure out his identity so they stick him in a cell .. then he gets sick and then they take his attorney away.. actually they take all the attorneys away from the whole place because a bunch of them are getting sick. That seems like a fair comparison to what is happening at ICE detention. Now everything is in limbo and stuck. Seems like it would be better if attorneys could just mask and take precautions and continue with their duties which are duties that are important because people have rights. Keep in mind not even the healthy captives have attorneys either. The whole place is void of attorneys and legal representation! whew!
..all this just food for thought of course from a layperson.. I have no knowledge of laws or experience in jurisprudence. While I do see the need to protect and prevent attorneys from contracting an illness/disease and I see the need to prevent them carrying that illness to others, it sure seems insane to me and extremely imprudent not to have appointed attorneys who take precautions and are in compliance with public health authorities in detention centers or places of confinement. Sounds detrimental to the institution itself and not in best interest of any of the parties involved. Whew, this is creepy! What a nightmare.. never in my life would I have ever imagined myself ever having to advise to others to please keep their captives clean and disease free as well as their attorneys.
