Utah: The Summit County Health Department confirmed Saturday that the first measles case came from an unvaccinated student attending South Summit Elementary.

SUMMARY - An infant in the state of Georgia has been confirmed to be the first measles case in that state for the year 2026. The infant is too young to receive a vaccination for the infection. Officials are now searching for anyone who may have been in contact with the infant.

Big and bad update out of South Carolina. The Measles outbreak there is continuing to accelerate out of control. 124 new Measles cases were reported today, with the outbreak total now at 434 Measles cases. Hopefully something is done soon, or the US at this past will easily blow past last year's Measles case count. Note, some of the these cases in this outbreak are from last year as that is when the outbreak started. We will likely get a new Measles count update from the US on Wednesday.

SUMMARY - Clemson University, located in the state of South Carolina, has reported a confirmed case of measles on the university’s main campus. The person has been isolated and authorities are attempting to identify and anyone who may have been exposed. It is not currently known where on campus the exposure was identified. According to Clemson University, nearly 98% of main campus students have provided proof of immunity to measles.

SUMMARY - Another case of measles has been confirmed in Buncombe County, North Carolina. This case makes six cases of measles confirmed in the county. There are measles exposure locations in the article for dates January 13th and 16th (in the article, it is identified as the "26th" which is unlikely).

South Carolina reported another 88 measles cases today, which makes the new total for the outbreak that started last year at 646. Today's increase in cases is smaller than the previous update. One can only hope we see a smaller number again on Friday, but I am not holding my breath.
