Probe conducted on chickenpox outbreak at Thai university

A doctor said that chickenpox is common, with around 10,000 cases recorded nationwide over the first two months of 2026.

BANGKOK – The Department of Disease Control has launched an urgent investigation into a chickenpox outbreak at two faculties at Thammasat University’s Rangsit campus, after classes were moved fully online from March 3 to 6. Officials said an investigation team was dispatched and authorities are tracing cases linked to a mid-February student camp.

Chickenpox cases confirmed in multiple schools on Kauai, Hawaii

The DOH says there are 10 known cases, linked to four schools, raising concerns about the highly contagious disease spreading. All of the cases were children.

The DOH says there are 10 known cases, linked to four schools, raising concerns about the highly contagious disease spreading. All of the cases were children.

Families and schools are urged to take proactive steps to limit the spread.

Last week, five cases were reportedly linked to Kilauea Elementary School.

As of Thursday morning, five more cases of chickenpox were reported from three other schools: Hanalei Elementary School, Kauai Christian Academy, and Island School.

One case was of a partially vaccinated patient who had one dose and experienced milder symptoms.

The other nine cases were in unvaccinated children.

Vulnerable individuals, like pregnant women, people with compromised immune systems, or those who cannot be vaccinated, should seek medical advice to learn about other medications they can take for protection.

TN ups surveillance as chickenpox cases rise among children

Chennai: With more than 800 chickenpox cases reported over the last two months across the state, particularly among children in cities such as Chennai, the Directorate of Public Health has upped its surveillance to ensure timely reporting of cases from all health facilities, schools and hostels. It asked health officials to hold outbreak investigation and submit detailed reports, and to reinforce community awareness on prevention and early treatment.

A regional Queensland father is fighting for his life in intensive care, after contracting chicken pox.
The Australian Medical Association says the virus can be more serious in adults, and a rise in cases is warning enough that people need to get vaccinated.

Chickenpox outbreak reported at Spartanburg Co. school

WELLFORD, S.C. (WSPA) – A chickenpox outbreak has been reported at a Spartanburg County school.

According to Spartanburg District Five, there have been four cases of chickenpox at Wellford Academy of Science and Technology.

Officials said the first case was confirmed by a school nurse more than a week ago and the fourth case was confirmed Wednesday.
