“Viral meningitis will usually get better on its own and rarely causes any long-term problems. Most people with bacterial meningitis who are treated quickly will also make a full recovery, although some are left with serious, long-term problems.Jun 15, 2023”

I know very little about the forms of meningitis but Years ago I had a girlfriend who lost a cousin to what was termed spinal meningitis at the time. I remember it was quite shocking as my girlfriend was quite close to her young cousin and it was a very fast unexpected death and loss to the family.

Mary Lou Retton DUI arrest (full bodycam video)

SUMMARY Jul 10, 2025
This video shows a series of bodycam clips from the Fairmont Police Department leading up to and during the arrest of Olympic gold medalist Mary Lou Retton-Kelly on May 17, 2025

LINK:

Side Comment: This is a very sad day and we urge Mary Lou Retton to please seek help. I include this news as a reminder alcoholism is also a serious illness behavioral-wise and medical -wise.Alcohol can be a problem amongst athletes. Alcoholism is indeed an illness and  Drug abuse a continual challenge for many famous athletes and we should not turn a blind eye to these problems. Mary Lou Retton-Kelly was lucky she didn't kill anybody behind the wheel and has an opportunity to turn her life around and should take it.

A further point in case There are many ways alcoholism contributes to illnesses and injury and it is probably wide spread as social drinking also reduces inhibitions in people at gatherings which in turn has probably led to increase in covid outbreaks.

Condolences to all those affected by alcohol and drug abuse related issues as these issues involved have a bearing on the welfare of the families, friends, and members of society.

I used to struggle with alcohol and while I appear unscathed by my bouts with alcohol, I still am aware firsthand how dangerous, insidious, and cruel alcohol and drugs can be. Ive been straight for many years now and have a clarity, control, and peace of mind I wouldn't give up sobriety for the world,

Just today I got home from a 6 mile bicycle ride in my mask..part of my ride was through heavy traffic.. My mask cut down some emissions likely from cars and I passed around some maskless people on the sidewalk huffing and puffing through my mask. I haven't been sick in over five years I highly suggest the mask for bicyclists. Its great wearing a mask. I don't envy the maskless and the illnesses they routinely risk, succumb to, and spread whatsoever.

Here's a shot of me in my mask near end of ride today

P.S.
My loved one and myself hasn’t gotten any airborne illnesses in over five years because of masking... she hasn't gotten sick from age 72- 77 years old so far because we mask and take precautions. It's awesome!

Underneath my  bandanna is my mask/ respirator and it has a valve to freely exhale from for prolonged use and appropriate cartridges to filter out covid, airborne diseases, many viruses, as well as dangerous particles from occupational hazards as well as even preventing allergens. As usual these videos are created solely to encourage people and inspire people who wear the safety mask. In all the time Ive worn my mask for over five years strait now outside my home I haven't caught covid, strep, whooping cough, bird flu, influenza, RSV, or even so much as a cold and it helps reduce allergies and many contaminants from occupational hazards.

Evidently,

..interesting article considering how many food borne illnesses seem to be affecting athletes.

It’s also interesting to note there’s not much data in the past recorded about food borne illnesses amongst athletes which is just one of the many reasons why this Data Report Info is important for future reference!

SUMMARY - The United States team at the swimming world championships in Singapore is battling a case of “acute gastroenteritis," in which at least three swimmers (Torri Huske, Luca Mijatovic and Claire Weinstein) were significantly affected. The outbreak is said to have its roots at a training camp the American team held in Phuket, Thailand, before arriving in Singapore. Katie Ledecky, the most famous swimmer on the American team, performed normally in her preliminary session on Sunday and did not appear to be affected.

Here is the latest on the World Swimming Championship illness outbreak.

The article posted below states many swimmers who were sick from all around the world at the 2025 world swimming championship in Singapore, Gi illness and other illnesses are listed, including Covid. At a later date in time, I will get around to adding the ones who have Covid to the Covid positive archive. It is possible some of the names listed in this were sick at the Olympics last year. This outbreak of illness's is very similar to what happened at the 2024 Summer Olympics and ended up being a big outbreak.
